Yvonne Latty
Yvonne Latty is the Director of the Reporting New York and Reporting the Nation programs at the Institute. She is currently producing and directing a feature-length documentary on the effects of uranium contamination in Navajo Nation.

Latty is the author of ‘In Conflict: Iraq War Veterans Speak Out on Duty, Loss and the Fight to Stay Alive’ (Polipoint Press 2006) and the critically acclaimed We Were There: Voices of African American Veterans, from World War II to the War in Iraq (Harper Collins/Amistad 2004).

She worked for the Philadelphia Daily News for 13 years where she was an award winning reporter specializing in urban issues. Latty was featured in two History Channel’s Documentaries, Honor Deferred and the Emmy award winner A Distant Shore: African Americans at D-Day.

Born and raised in New York City, she earned a BFA in Film/Television and later an MA in Journalism from New York University.

Betty Ming Liu
Betty Ming Liu is a blogger (BettyMingLiu.com) and former nationally syndicated columnist for the New York Daily News. She has taught a variety of courses at NYU’s journalism department and is a recipient of a 2008 Outstanding Teaching Award.

During her 15-year, newspaper career, she covered diversity issues, the immigrant experience, celebrity/gossip, business, food and features. She was also a former staffer at The Newark Star-Ledger and Crain’s New York Business. Adrian Mihai
Adrian Mihai is an Adjunct Professor of Journalism, teaching at NYU since 1996. He is also the Broadcast Operations Manager of the NYU Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute.

Adrian is an ITP NYU Tisch School of the Arts graduate with a master in interactive telecommunications. He is is a restless traveler, a passionate photographer and documentary filmmaker, a freelance video editor and multimedia designer. Judith Schoolman
Judith Schoolman has been teaching “Basic Reporting” at NYU since Fall 2003, after more than 20 years as a daily newspaper and wire service journalist.

Schoolman started her news career at Fairchild Publication’s now defunct Daily News Record trade publication and soon moved to Reuters, where she started as a financial news reporter. During more than 15 years at the international wire service, Schoolman was a general news reporter, business reporter and editor, and a business columnist, writing about consumer issues. She moved to the Daily News as the deputy business editor and also covered in-depth and breaking news business stories, including the global financial effects of September 11. She remains active in the New York news community as a return columnist for the Daily News, specializing in personal finance issues.

Schoolman received a BA in English from Binghamton University (formerly SUNY at Binghamton) and an MA in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is the winner of a Front Page award from the Newswomen’s Club of New York.

Stephen Brown
Stephen Brown recently worked as the editor of the hyperlocal news site, Fort Greene Patch. In 2010 he worked for The Brooklyn Paper and won “Reporter of the Year” from the Suburban Newspapers of America. Prior to that he had a lengthy internship with the Daily Beast. He also taught journalism in Monterey, Calif. to high school students for National Geographic Student Expeditions. He is a graduate of the NYU’s Global Journalism program, and also has a Master’s in Latin American Studies. His work has appeared in the Brooklyn Eagle and the New York Times.

My name is Hillevi Gustafson, and I study International Relations and Film at the University of St Andrews, Scotland. I am the Web Editor for The Saint, which is the student newspaper in St Andrews. Along with the rest of the editorial team, I am working to improve the website and online presence of The Saint, and multimedia journalism is something that I am very passionate about. I’m Liz Roberts, a junior double major in Communication and English at the University of Maryland-College Park. I’m from Montgomery County, MD and have always had a strong interest in journalism, marketing and PR. Since the scope of what I want to do is so broad, I’ve had internships ranging from a buyer at a boutique to a marketing intern at a radio station to reporter/copy editor for college magazines and newspapers.
